Last day to attend the photography exhibition The Silence of the Desert at Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale of Florence. The photographer Roberto Ghedina expresses the notion of profound silence through a documentary photo exhibitition. The author has had the opportunity to stay in the Certosa di Farneta, a place of seclusion. The shots were captured by the light and display the silence in which the monks live. Opening of the exhibition Jackson Pollock.The Figure of Fury at Palazzo Vecchio until July 27, 2014. Sixteen works of Pollock’s “talk” to The Genius of Victory, one of the most famous works of Michelangelo. Also sketches provided by the Metropolitan Museum in New York and some of Pollock’s paintings and engravings granted by international museums and private collections and a series of graphic works. The exhibition consists of a second section in the deconsecrated Church of San Firenze: multimedia with interactive spaces and an educational program.

Procession and ceremony in the historic center of Florence. On the anniversary of the death of the great architect Filippo Brunelleschi the City of Florence commemorates him with a wreath-laying ceremony and procession of representatives of the Florentine Republic in traditional renaissance dress. The procession starts from Palagio di Parte Guelfa and ends at the Duomo.
Brunelleschi is buried in the crypt of Santa Reparata in the Duomo, and two wreaths will be laid at his resting place. Starting at 3 p.m. Free admission.

For the celebration of the 450 years of the Accademia delle Arti e del Disegno and the birth of Michelangelo Buonarroti, the exhibition will focus on the influence of the academic world on art history.
