This week you won’t want to miss the twenty-first edition of the Fabbrica Europa Festival. From May 8 until June 18, 2014, this festival comprises a terrific program of theatre, dance, performing and visual arts. Beginning at Stazione Leopolda, Fabbrica Europa’s symbolic home, the festival spreads to other locations in Florence, from the Nuovo Teatro dell’Opera to the Teatro Cantiere Florida, and across the Arno to the Ex Church of San Carlo dei Barnabiti, CANGO Cantieri Goldonetta, Teatro Goldoni, and further still to the Teatro Era of Pontedera.

The Hat between Art and Extravaganza at the Galleria del Costume (Costume Gallery) of Palazzo Pitti. Open until June 8, 2014, it consists of the first monographic exhibition dedicated to hats, as well as a tribute to this extraordinary accessory. 179 pieces on display. WA! Japan Film Festival, the Review of Japanese Cinema Florence, until May 11, 2014, at Cinema Odeon and Piazza Strozzi. The festival is a multi-sensory journey to discover Japanese culture in new Cinema, culinary delights, characteristic crafts, and Japanese traditions. A daily selection of animated films, documentaries, shorts movies, comedies, and dramas of great success, and the opportunity to enjoy traditional cuisine, sushi, tempura, ramen, and much more. Pausa Caffè Festival, at Piazza della Repubblica e Biblioteca delle Oblate, until May 9, 2014. The kermess dedicated to the spread of the quality coffee’s culture demonstrates the excellence and culture of Made in Italy. Fiesole and the Longobards – Civic Archeological Museum of Fiesole. This exhibition is one of the many events celebrating the 100 years of the Museum of Fiesole. It is showing, for the first time, the recent discoveries from about 40 burials that were found in the excavations carried out in Fiesole’s Piazza Garibaldi area. On display are various objects from the unearthed Lombard grave furnishings, namely, fibule, hair pins, jewelry, and weapons. The exhibit will last until October 30, 2014.
