This week we make a special mention of food festivals happening near Florence. November is a month where there is a great mix of Italian food, the predominant flavours of the month being fresh pressed extra virgin olive oil and white truffles.
Don’t miss the Truffle Market and Fair at San Giovanni d’Asso (Siena) and the Olive Oil Food Fair in Montemurlo (Prato).
The first is one of the most famous marketplaces for truffles and where you will enjoy a tasting of local products and a guided tour. The second provides a great occasion to taste new olive oil accompanied by live music!

Chinese National Exhibition of Fine Arts at Palazzo Medici Riccardi. Contemporary paintings, prints, sculptures, watercolors, and mixed media works are on display, from the ground floor to the Galleria delle Carrozze, to the Limonaia rooms. Comprising 65 masterpieces chosen from a pool of 24,000 competitors, Florence is the only European city on this traveling exhibition worldwide tour. Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Museum of the Cappelle Medicee. The Museum is incorporated in the vast complex of the basilica of San Lorenzo and it is here that members of the family were buried from the mid-15th century onward. The Museum is especially famous for the New Sacristy, which Michelangelo designed for the tombs of Lorenzo and Giuliano de’ Medici. The Prince of Dreams: Joseph in the Medici Tapestries of Bronzino and Pontormo at Palazzo Vecchio. The exhibition features 20 16th-century tapestries commissioned by Cosimo I de’ Medici for the Sala dei Duecento.
